The Evolution of Social Media

Over the years, the Internet has become a vast broadcasting asset that allows people all over the world to share their experiences and parts of their lives. The platform used to connect so many people is called social media. There are many ways people can connect, and the use of the Internet itself has grown and expanded over the years to give people more ways to express themselves and communicate. Whether you communicate directly to people through programs, such as Skype, that allow you to talk one on one or have group calls with co-workers, friends, and family or you choose a more open platform, such as Facebook, communicating with people in different countries has never been easier. Like most great creations, the Internet and the use of social media has grown since their inception.

People enjoy being able to share their personal lives via words, mixed multimedia, pictures, audio, and videos. The Internet has opened up a world of expression that is only inhibited by what a user wants to post. Of course there are also laws that must be adhered to and are put into action per state and country. However, there is plenty of room for creation when it comes to social media. Talented individuals can create their own programs, applications, blogs, and art. It has never been easier for people to communicate with each other from across the globe, allowing valuable time to be saved, while conversing with peers in a person-to-person format. This also lends itself to those in commerce who wish to enrich their business.

  • Employees log on to social media sites while at work.

Part of the evolution of social media plays a great role in the business world. While people are making new accounts on media platforms, such as Skype, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and YouTube, businesses are able to watch and compare to find current trends and which way to field their next release or curb their businesses to meet demands. It has never been easier for a company to jump into the action and become instantly famous. Although it may seem this is easy, the evolution of social media has proven that markets are fickle and the power of people hitting the ‘like’ option, or not, is revolutionary.
